Cut & Curl delivered hair boom to solve an oil leakage problem at Laem Chabang Beach in Chonburi

Date : 7 September 2023

Cut and Curl Co., Ltd. (“Cut & Curl” or “the Company”) prioritizes the recycling of waste and discarded items within our salons to maximize benefits. We have repurposed hair scraps from our salon into hair booms, capable of absorbing oil, which can be used to solve oil spills in the sea and oil slicks along the coast.

Cut & Curl became aware of an oil spill incident in the sea area of Chonburi Province on 3 September 2023, caused by a broken crude oil pipeline, resulting in the release of over 45,000 liters of crude oil into the sea. Our team quickly contacted local community representatives near Laem Chabang Beach, Chonburi Province, to further understand the situation and discuss potential solutions. On 7 September 2023, a team of over 16 Cut & Curl staff, led by Mr. Pichai Aramcharoen, Managing Director, visited Laem Chabang Beach, bringing over 400 kg of hair scraps and hair boom-making equipment. We demonstrated and advised the community members on how to make and use hair booms, and we also worked with them to produce hair booms for further use to deal with the oil problem along the beach.

Cut & Curl conducts business on sustainable principles, focusing on utilizing waste and discarded items from our services to maximize benefits, as well as actively participating in environmental problem-solving and collaborating with local communities.
