The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), which is the top-level assembly of national leaders on environmental and developmental issues, has announced 8 June of each year the World Ocean Day. At Cut & Curl, we recognize the importance of marine conservation and the preservation of the seas. Accordingly, our staff took part in a beach cleaning in Pattaya to help keep Thailand’s coastline pristine.
According to assessments conducted by the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, the majority of maritime problems arise in tourism locations along the coast. With aim to raise awareness about beach pollution and promote proper waste disposal, particularly near coastlines, Cut & Curl conducted a beach cleanup activity in Pattaya on 8 June 2023 to commemorate the World Ocean Day. On such day, 16 Cut & Curl volunteering staff helped clean the Pattaya beach from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., covering beach area of more than 2 kilometers. They collected vast amounts of waste such as plastic bags, foam containers, wooden sticks, and bottle caps.
Cut & Curl believes that beach cleanup activity in Pattaya is another initiative to raise awareness and conserve Thai seas, instilling a sense of responsibility in participants to separate waste, dispose of it properly, and reduce waste through thoughtful consumption, reuse, and environmentally friendly product choices.
Cut & Curl has a policy to promote and spread knowledge about environmental sustainability by aligning company policies with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to promote well-being and sustainability for individuals, communities, the environment, and the planet.
